Dr Karen Tam is an Australian-trained medical doctor who graduated from the University of Sydney in 2012. Since then, she has gained extensive clinical experience across a range of hospitals throughout New South Wales, building a broad and well-rounded medical and surgical background.
Her experience includes work in rehabilitation, oncology, orthopaedics, and gynaecological robotic surgery (as a surgical assistant), equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of multidisciplinary care.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr Tam completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours in Pharmaceutics. She is currently undertaking postgraduate studies at Monash University, specialising in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Dr Tam has significant experience in sports medicine and injury management. She has served as Match Day Doctor for the Sydney University Football Club and has provided medical coverage for numerous elite and representative sporting teams. Her previous appointments include working with the New Zealand Warriors (NSW Rugby League), Northern Suburbs Rugby Club (Shute Shield), National Touch Football Tournaments, Pacific Nations Cup (Samoa Men’s Rugby League), and the Women’s Rugby League World Cup (New Zealand Kiwi Ferns). She is also certified in World Rugby Concussion Management.
With a strong focus on collaborative, patient-centred care, Dr Tam works closely with patients, employers, and allied health professionals to support recovery, facilitate return-to-work objectives, and promote long-term health outcomes. Her holistic and compassionate approach to occupational health and general medical care makes her a highly respected practitioner in her field.
